When driving on a single-lane road, it is important to abide by the rules and not overtake when they are double white lines on the road. The lines indicate it is not safe to overtake and doing so may pose a dangerous threat to road users on the opposite side.
Recently, Facebook user Sheran shared dashcam footage that showed how he and his family nearly got into a deadly accident by crashing into a vehicle head-on.
In the video, Sheran can be seen cruising down the road when the pick-up truck suddenly appeared in the same lane as him and was attempting to overtake the lorry in front.
Fortunately, he slammed the brakes on time and the car came to a screeching halt, thus avoiding the deadly accident.
Despite the incident, the driver continues to inch forward and did not give way to Sheran. He was forced to reverse his car to make way for the 4-wheel vehicle to go through.
Sheran then scolded the driver and said that he caused his child to fall from the seat whilst sleeping.
Multiple honks can also be heard from the vehicles behind Sheran as they condemn the driver of the 4-wheel vehicle for his actions.
Meanwhile, the 4-wheel vehicle driver can be seen blaming the lorry ahead of him for causing the traffic.
The dashcam footage has since gone viral on social media with netizens calling for the driver to be arrested for endangering other road users.
Some netizens then pointed out that Sheran should not have reversed his car to make way for the driver of the 4-wheel vehicle and force him back into the queue.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t have reversed that quickly. To see what he does to fix his stupidity,” a netizen said.
“Let him reverse all the way back of all those other cars behind him,” another netizen said.

Meanwhile, the incident caught the police’s attention and in a statement by the PDRM’s official Twitter account, they said the incident happened at Jalan Janda Baik, Bentong, Pahang.
“The traffic department of IPD Bentong will be investigating the matter, search for the owner of the 4-wheel vehicle and bring him in to give a statement.”
“If he is found guilty, a summon can be issued to the driver for overtaking at a double line which is illegal,” they added.
Chief of Bentong Police Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar also urged the public to report such cases and advised all road users always to drive safely and selflessly.
