On Tuesday (24 May), a 21-second video showing a big group of students fighting in Sandakan, Sabah went circulating on social media, causing an unease among netizens.
In the video, the scene looked like it came out straight from a Hong Kong gangster film as a large group of students in school uniforms went on a rampage.
Students can be seen running around, attacking each other, pushing, and hitting one another on the road where no vehicles were passing at the time the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, members of the public intervened and broke up the fight, settling the massive brawl. They separated the boys by pulling them apart and shouting at them to stop.
The incident caught the police’s attention and they are now investigating the matter.
According to Bernama, Sandakan police have arrested 21 students and one former student from three different schools who were involved in the viral fight.
District police chief, ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said the arrests were made by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sandakan district police headquarters involving suspects aged between 14 and 18 years old.
“Our initial investigations showed that the fight stemmed from a misunderstanding among them.”
“We will complete our investigations before submitting the papers to the Attorney-General’s office for further instructions,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
The fight was believed to have taken place in Jalan Elopura here at about 2 pm.
