This has led to rumours of Najib had a “second family” went circulating on social media, with Bersatu Youth Chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal cheekily left a comment to congratulate Najib as a “newlywed”.

According to Utusan, the individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, lodged the report at the KKMM Headquarters in Cyberjaya Friday afternoon (20 May), and that ministry has confirmed receiving the report.

The viral photo was first uploaded on Twitter on 18 May, where the woman involves is said to be 53-year-old Hashimah Ramli.

Hashimah, also known as Shima, is the former wife of composer Fauzi Marzuki, and the ex-husband said he is unaware of her alleged marriage with Najib. Fauzi and Hashimah were married in 1993 and divorced in 2013.

According to Getaran, Najib and Hashimah is said to have been married for over a year.

“No comment. Hashimah’s marriage to Najib has nothing to do with me. Since we divorced in 2013, she is free to marry whoever she chooses. I do not know why the media is looking at me about her marriage. I have nothing to do with this,” Fauzi was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the family friend of Najib and Rosmah claims that the photo is edited and they wanted the authorities to investigate if it has been photoshopped, and whether the accompanying information provided was false.

He added that legal action will be taken if the viral information was false.

Speaking to the press, the family friend said both Najib and Rosmah were shocked when he showed the photo to them.

After denying the rumours, they asked him to file the report with MCMC for further action.

“I’m making this report on their behalf, and asking for action to be taken once it can be proven that the photo and its caption are fakes,” he said.
