A few days ago, rumours of Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman being appointed as the Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia went circulated on the Internet.

However, the rumours were proven true on Tuesday (17 May) when Tajuddin was officially appointed as the ambassador to Malaysia which he confirmed himself.

His appointment was also backed by Prime Minister Dato Seri Ismail Sabri and he revealed that Tajuddin had received a letter from the Indonesian president, Joko Widodo himself over the appointment.

Nonetheless, this did not sit well with most Malaysians as many criticised him for being not the right fit for the task. So much so that a group called Bangsa Malaysia even launched an online petition seeking to revoke the appointment of Tajuddin Rahman as the ambassador to Indonesia.

The petition said that Malaysians have yet to forget his disastrous handling of the light rail transit (LRT) collision last year that involved several passengers sustaining injuries from the accident.

“His press conference as the Prasarana chairman then was enough to prove he is a ‘bad, stupid and arrogant’ person not qualified to represent Malaysia in any capacity.”

“The rakyat hasn’t forgotten his statement that the LRT collision was normal, and when he laughed when describing the crash as ‘two cars that kissed each other’.”

“Is this the kind of person we want to represent the country as an ambassador? Malaysia has been embarrassed enough. We as the rakyat must rise in protecting the good name of our country,” the description read.

The group then labelled Tajuddin as more of an “Embarassador” than an ambassador.

“Our country is embarrassed enough. We have to rise and fight for the sake of the good name of Malaysia,” they added.
