Sexual harassment is no joke and it should not be taken lightly.
A cosplayer, who was harassed at her booth in the recent Anime Fest at Paradigm Mall, has taken to Twitter to share how the police officers “victim-shamed” her instead.
In the series of tweets, the cosplayer said she was cornered by a stalker who become hysterical after she rejected him and told him to stay away from her.
“He pushed my friend who tried to block him from getting close to me at the booth. Then he screamed and begged me to take a picture with him and unblock him on Discord,” she shared.

She also said that she first met the stalker 4 months ago and he has constantly harassing her since then by stalking her and trying to make video calls.
Although the event crew had handled the situation promptly, she continues to lodge a police report at the Kelana Jaya police station as she feels that this cannot carry on.
I went to the police station in my cosplay because i needed to make the report fast. The officer told me “u pakai macam ni, jual gambar macam ni, ini adalah consequences you.” “You pun juga salah”. Tiba2 event kena stalk kena slut shame buy1free1

Unfortunately, instead of getting the support she needed, the cosplayer said that the police officer had victim-blamed her for the incident, pointing out her choice of costume.
“I went to the police station in my cosplay dress because I needed to make a quick police report.”
“The officer told me ‘You wear clothes like this, you sell pictures like this, this is your consequence. You are in the wrong, too.” she shared her grievance in a tweet.
The officer then ‘advised’ her to go back to school and focus on more meaningful activities.
FYI this was the outfit that i was wearing which he tegured me. I even covered it up with a jacket out of respect. Yall decide for yourselves la 😪 pic.twitter.com/3dqNry4DMU

“I’ve been harassed by someone who is mentally ill and from all viewing angles, I’m the victim here… how can you say that it’s my fault for existing and doing my hobby, it’s my fault so I need to deal with it?” the cosplayer said.
Meanwhile, other cosplayers attending the same event also shared that they’ve bumped into one of these sexual harassers.
The police officer who made the insensitive remark was reported to be under investigation since then. However, the police have yet to respond to the matter.
