Last month, the case of Sam Ke Ting who was involved in a road accident that resulted in the deaths of 8 teenagers on basikal lajak (modified bicycles) went viral on social media, at the same time sending a strong message to the public to avoid doing dangerous stunts on the road.
However, some do not heed the advice and continue to do so.
Recently, a video showing 2 underage teenagers on motorcycles performing “wheelie” and dangerous stunts in Kulim, Kedah has gone viral on social media.
In the video, it can be seen that both the teenagers performing the dangerous stunt and more importantly, one of them are not even wearing a helmet.
It did not take the police long to locate both the teenagers in the video and they have since been apprehended.
According to Kosmo, the head of PDRM’s Traffic Department & Enforcement in Kedah, Superintendant Mohd Mahiri Hussain said the teenagers, who are both 16-years-old were brought to the police station on 4 May from their respective homes in Lunas and Padang Serai.
The incident took place on Jalan Nagalilit and Jalan Fasa 4 Hi-Tech. The vehicles involved in the stunt are Modenas Kriss and Honda EX5 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Mahiri also revealed that the police traced the license registration number of the motorcycles by using the Mobile Computerised On-Line Payment System” (MCOPS) device.
In the comment section, netizens left sarcastic comments such as this that said “Kids these days are smart. They capture their own mistakes and post them online. Congratulations!”
“Can’t wait to get into the grave?” another netizen commented.
Understandably, youths are eager to try out new things. However, they should also be aware of the consequences of their actions.
