Yesterday (28 April), a video showing a group of high school students violently assaulting their classmate has gone viral on social media.
The incident was reported to have taken place at a school in Langkawi, where the victim was being circled and confronted by his classmates.
After exchanging words with the bullies, one of them started kicking the victim in the back, before others joined the fight by kicking and punching him.

He then fell to the ground and the bullies continued assaulting him. Near the end of the video, one of the students even threw a desk onto the victim while the others continuously kicked him.
Following that video, another video was also uploaded on social media purportedly showing the schoolboys being picked up by the police in a van.

Later that afternoon (28 April), the PDRM in Langkawi released an official statement regarding the incident.
In the statement, Langkawi OCPD Asst Comm Shariman Ashari confirmed that a report was lodged by the 16-year-old victim shortly after the fight.
The incident took place on Wednesday (27 April) around 9 am and it was caused by a misunderstanding between the students.
Shariman added that the victim has been sent to the hospital for further treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
Bullying is never right and it does not solve any problem. We hope that the victim is recovering and the perpetrators will learn their lesson.
