The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department is investigating an incident where a policewoman allegedly made a live TikTok video during a raid.
According to Berita Harian, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Razarudin Husain said he had instructed the department to investigate the date and location of the live video were made.
“We also wanted to know the motive and objective of making the recording using her TikTok account,” said Razarudin.
He said the department will issue a circular on the use of social media among police officers and personnel.
This came after a one-minute and 38sec video went viral on TikTok, where the Assistant Supt is seen talking about a police raid at an unknown entertainment outlet.
So kalau berpaku memang boleh ea buat live time tengah operasi? Taktau pulak. Masa aku kerja dulu anggota post gambar tengah bertugas kena tindakan keras. Maybe zaman dah berubah, aku pun taktau arahan terkini mungkin pegawai saja dibenarkan kot bersosial media time operasi/tugas pic.twitter.com/qLz9aIlJ73

Halfway through, she said she was surprise that the live video has more than 1,200 viewers. She then told her followers to keep following her update and wish that she could reach 100,000 followers on her TikTok account.
Her action drew the ire of social media users who criticised her for taking advantage of an operation.
Ingatkan cikgu je buat hal live time mengajar dalam kelas. Rupanya pegawai polis pon sama jugak sibuk nak buat live time tengah bertugas siap show off logo PDRM lagi. Orang2 yg mcm ni la yg busukkan nama sesuatu organisasi sebab tak jaga integriti & professionalism

Nonetheless, this is not the first time Bukit Aman had issued a directive to prevent its personnel from sharing social media content of themselves while on duty.
The same circular was issued in August 2020, aimed at preventing negative perceptions or criticism that could tarnish the image of the police force.
