The new RFID refuelling is now available at some Shell stations and netizens are excited about it because of its convenience and ease of use.
It started as a pilot project in July 2021 and the feature has remained available in the 5 Shell stations that participated in the pilot project.
Recently, a Twitter user Thevesh shares how he managed to refuel his car without the need to take out his wallet or phone.
On a serious note, the possibilities for this type of tech are endless.— Thevesh (@Thevesh) April 20, 2022
My sister and girlfriend were with me – we were saying how, futuristic vibes aside, this surely made the experience safer for women on the road as well!
“Call me overly excited, but RFID refuelling really made me feel like I was living in the future. Hot damn.” he wrote in his tweet.
He also shared that all you need to do is have RFID installed on your vehicle and get your TnG app reloaded. Following that, park at the designated RFID bay at the petrol station and you’ll be able to refuel your vehicle.
Thevesh also shared that his sister and girlfriend, who were in the car with him, believed that this ‘futuristic’ process makes pumping petrol a safer experience for women on the road too.
In the comment section, many said this feature is so convenient and they could refuel their car so much quicker.
Meanwhile, some netizens jokingly compared how RFID wasn’t detected well at toll booths but it worked well at petrol stations.

However, if you wanted to collect rebates on your credit card, this RFID refuelling might not be your first choice.
So far, the only 5 Shell stations that have this feature are Bandar Sri Menjalara, Mint Hotel, NKVE Damansara, Taman Connaught and Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
