“Internet brings more harm than ketum” Kedah MB calls for ketum to be exported

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has once again rallied support for ketum plants to be allowed for export.

This time, he compared the ketum plants to the Internet, where he commented that the usage of the internet is more harmful than the plant which can be used as medicinal ingredients.

Sanusi then urged the government to consider exporting the ketum plants to overseas countries.

He said that while ketum plants remained illegal, the internet coverage continues to be expanded although it has brought about a negative impact on society.

Despite its negativity, the government continues to spend effort on widening the coverage continue as its benefits outweigh the damaging effects.

“Why wasn’t the internet be limited or barred same as how the war on ketum is being carried out? Why ketum didn’t get the same treatment?” he asked.

“Is it because the internet caters to the business of multi-billionaires, the riches and the influential, while the ketum plants are merely the crops planted by village folks who are just nobodies?” Sanusi was quoted saying by Sinar Harian.

“Children are also reported to be addicted to pornography and video games that the Internet brought about, which leads to many other issues,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and several other senior Cabinet members are expected to be handed a memorandum on the use of cannabis and ketum for medicinal purposes next week.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said that the move is necessary in order to allow for the plants to be exported.
