The Health Ministry (KKM) has issued a compound of RM1,000 to the DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang for hugging party members during DAP’s 17th National Congress last weekend.
On Monday (21 March), Lim was tested positive for Covid-19, and shortly after, the Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who attended the event, also tested positive for the virus.
In a tweet yesterday (22 March), Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said “Compound has been issued against @limkitsiang.”

In the same tweet, Khairy also takes a jibe at the former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, reminding him to pay up for the compounds issued to him during the recently concluded Johor state election campaigns.
“MOH hopes @NajibRazak will pay up one compound issued during the Johor state election which has not been settled.”
“MOH also hopes @NajibRazak has received four other compounds sent by registered post which his officer refused to accept earlier,” he wrote.
This comes after Najib called out to the Health Minister for not taking any action to fine DAP members who were seen hugging Lim after he announced his retirement from politics at the congress.

Meanwhile, Najib also responded to Khairy’s tweet and asked why Khairy’s ministry did not issue the same compound to other DAP members for breaching the same SOP as Lim did.
“Why only Kit Siang was fined? That too, with only a RM1,000 compound that was issued yesterday. But, there were dozens of party members hugging him.”
“I’m puzzled as to why Khairy related Kit Siang’s fine to me but I will pay all five compounds issued against me,” Najib wrote in a Facebook.
