The matter was brought to light by Twitter user @HausofHilton as he shared about the price of Difflam anti-inflammatory lozenges which is getting more expensive to the point where it is reaching more than RM100 per box despite the original price being around RM16.
Meanwhile, other netizens pointed out that most of the medicines that are specifically for patients with itchy throat and cough are running low on supply at drugstores or pharmacies.
Netizens also expressed their disappointment on social media, saying these medications has become so expensive and it has become a burden to those in need.
Some are now looking to try traditional medicine because all modern medicines are more expensive.
In February, there was a commotion about the paracetamol drug running out of supply since last January, which worried the public, especially Covid-19 patients.
Lozenges are candy that contains medicine. It can relief and comfort the irritation of the throat cavity.
The active ingredients contained in lozenges provide varying functions. Each brand and type of lozenges also have different active ingredients.
