Watch: Resident in Kelantan builds flood barrier in front of his home and is the only ‘safe’ home in the recent floods

Social NewsWatch: Resident in Kelantan builds flood barrier in front of his home...

Recently, the devastating floods have hit several parts of Kelantan and Terengganu following the continuous heavy downpour over the weekends.

It was reported that the floods have displaced over 12,000 people as they were forcibly evacuated to the flood shelters, and the number continues to grow as the situation worsens.

It was reported that water levels had reached the roof in some areas and residents had to climb up to their roofs and wait for help to reach them.

The only ‘safe’ home

While the devastating floods destroy homes and properties, there were a few houses that managed to get away from this unfortunate fate.

In a video shared by Twitter user @FaktaBukanAuta, it was shown that a few houses in Kampung Bukit Abal, Pasir Putih, Kelantan remained safe from the floods that landed in the area.

Apparently, the residents here had an interesting way to deal with floods. They had set up flood barriers right in front of their residents.

Netizens were amused after they saw this solution by the residents there! If you take a closer look, the compound was not flooded at all!

Temporary flood barriers

This method used by the resident here is called ‘Temporary Flood Wall Barriers’, where a freestanding temporary flood barrier is built to divert water from flooding into the compound.

The barrier is particularly useful during flash flooding to control fast-flowing water, diverting it away from vulnerable entrances.

Meanwhile, the area will be safe from floods as long as the water levels do not exceed the height of the barrier.

As flash floods are common in Malaysia and the situation is not improving from time to time, it may be a great idea to invest in such products as it may help save your belongings.
