The Kelantan Health Department will be conducting a thorough and detailed investigation into the death of a 2-month-old infant, who died due to alleged negligence by hospital employees, its director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said.

He added that the department is very concerned about the incident and expressed his condolences to the family.

According to the preliminary investigation, they found that the patient was admitted to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) on 5 February due to extreme diarrhoea for several days which resulted in various complications.

“The State Health Department takes this incident seriously and will conduct a more thorough and detailed investigation on all parties involved,” he said in a statement.

According to Harian Metro, the management of the HRPZ II had held a meeting with the family of the baby for the alleged negligence.

HRPZ II director Datuk Dr Selasawati Ghazali said her party had conducted an investigation involving doctors and nurses who were responsible for treating the baby.

However, she said, the hospital could not reveal the findings of the investigation at this time and would only inform the victim’s family during the meeting.

Earlier, a post on Facebook by ‘Ola Ola‘ claimed that the hospital’s negligence has led to the death of the two-month-old baby.

In a video included in the post, the netizen claimed that the baby was forced to fast for 5 days apart from being given milk past the expiration date and administered sleeping pills without her permission.
