After Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein came under fire for attending an event that violated the SOPs last week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob had defended him by saying that violating the SOPs is not a crime.
This time around, the prime minister was spotted attending another crowded event in Johor that ignores the SOPs.
In a video recording shared by Malaysia Gazette, he can be seen walking through the huge crowds at the Sekitar Program Usahawan & Koperasi Keluarga Malaysia event at Dewan Serbaguna MBIP, Taman Nusantara, Gelang Patah, Johor.

Malaysians were not happy with this and questioned if the SOPs are there only for the general public and the Malaysian leaders need not to follow them.
“The Covid-19 SOPs from KKM are no longer relevant, the highest authorities don’t even follow the SOPs implemented! Better to abolish the SOPs and live as usual.” a netizen said.
“Just renounce the enforcement of SOP. Make it a guideline. If SOP is being ignored by the upper caste, the enforcement will never be just to the rakyat.” another netizen said.
Meanwhile, Honorary Research Associate with the University of Nottingham Asia Research Institute Malaysia (UoNARI-M), Bridget Welsh had also commented on the matter, condemning the leader’s action for endangering the vulnerable and slowing economic recovery.
Another netizen also pointed out the irony where the leaders talked about the SOPs and urged the people to practice them at all times, but they ignored them and gets away with just a small fine.
Following this, perhaps the Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will order his officers to issue a fine to the Prime Minister too?
