While forex trading is legal in Malaysia, it is actually haram for Muslims due to its speculative nature, according to religious preachers.
Recently, Malaysian celebrity entrepreneur Mohd Azwan Haji Mohd Nor, or better known as Wak Doyok, was appointed as the ambassador for a global Forex broker company called OctaFX.
In addition, local actor Fizo Omar had joined him as the brand representative too.
The celebrity entrepreneur took to his Instagram to announce his gratitude to the organisation for for choosing him to represent their brand, at the same time, expressed his excitement to share his experience with his followers about making an investment.
“I’m very excited today as I’m officially appointed as the ambassador of OctaFX. Thank you Octafx for giving me the opportunity and trust as a good partner in OctaFX.”
“I am honoured to share with my followers on how to succeed in this platform,” Wak wrote in his social media post.
A number of his fans had congratulated him for being chosen as the ambassador of the global brand. However, his fans were less ecstatic with his announcement and reprimanded Wak for his involvement in foreign exchange trading or forex investments.
Many also pointed out that forex trading is haram for Muslims due to the element of gambling and speculation.
Nonetheless, Wak did not respond to the negative feedbacks on his Instagram post.
