The police have detained a 15-year-old girl in Kemaman Terengganu after she allegedly stabbed her newborn to death.
It was reported that the girl gave birth to the baby boy with assistance from a friend at a home in Felcra Seri Bandi, Cukai in the morning. While the friend rushed to inform a nearby clinic about the delivery, the teen mother and her baby stayed at home.
When the clinic personnel arrived, they found the baby bleeding from the stab wounds.
They then rushed the baby to the clinic that is located less than 100 metres from the girl’s house for medical aid but was confirmed dead.
The police received a report about the incident around 10 a.m. and rushed to the scene.
According to NST, the healthcare staff confirmed that the baby was dead and was taken to the Kemaman Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Kemaman district police chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said the preliminary investigation found that the mother was a rape victim.
He said the girl was a school drop out and stayed with her mother after her father died.
As she was the only person in the house with the baby during the incident, the police have detained her to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Hanyan said the police have also identified the man who allegedly raped the teenage girl and he’s being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
