On Wednesday (9 February), the former Prime Minister and National Rehabilitation Council (MPN) chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
The announcement was made on this Twitter, where he said that he only experienced mild symptoms and was in good condition.
Muhyiddin has since been placed under self-quarantine, at the same time, he urges those who are close contacts of his should follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health (KKM).
“Please pray for my health and my family,” he added.
While many netizens shared their thoughts and prayers, some took the opportunity to troll ‘Abah’ (Muhyiddin), especially after he announced the MPN’s decision to open international borders soon.
Saya cadangkan kita buka sempadan Antarabangsa terus ke rumah Abah— azrul (@azrulasma) February 9, 2022
“I hope that the plan to open the borders are postponed first, unless you want to open the borders straight to Tan Sri’s house then I agree by 200%. Whatever it is, get well soon.” a netizen said.
“Abah, share it with your friends too, don’t get infected by yourself.” another netizen said.
Semoga terus positive tan sri— Timbalan Pengarah J-KOM (@fakrul07) February 9, 2022
Meanwhile, some even joked that ‘Abah’ should stay ‘positive’ always.
While these witty comments can be humorous, it’s not our culture to wish for someone to get ill.
Let’s hope that Muhyiddin and everyone who has tested positive recover soon.
