At the dawn of Tuesday (8 February) morning, 2 robbers had snuck into a 7-Eleven store in Pekan Meru, Klang and blew up an ATM machine before fleeing with the cash.
The incident was only discovered when the employees of the convenience store arrive at 8 a.m. to find the glass door of the store broken and the door of the ATM blown open.
The CCTV footage shared by a netizen showed the robbers placing a handmade bomb near the ATM machine before they went hiding at the corner, waiting for it to explode moments later.
They were also seen scooping the cash into two bags before fleeing the scene.
According to Kosmo, North Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said the police have received a report regarding the incident.
“The 2 suspects then blew up the ATM machine inside the convenience store before fleeing with the money.”
“The amount of money stolen is still under investigation,” he said.
He also said the police is hunting down the suspects and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary and breaking-in.
It is unsure as to how the suspects blew up the ATM too.
