Over the past 2 months, there had been rounds of price hike in Malaysia and both consumers and business owners are badly affected by it. In such a situation, most businesses would choose to increase the price of their products and passing on the cost to the consumers.

However, some businesses are making advantage of the situation to increase their prices to more than what is necessary.

Recently, a TikTok user Afiq (@raidafiqz) had unfortunately became a victim of these unethical business owners. He then decides to take the incident to TikTok to share the incident.

The video showed him and his friends dining at Rumah Makan Sri Muallim in Tanjung Malim, Perak. It was not a fancy restaurant, but it offers an affordable nasi campur restaurant.

However, Afiq was alarmed when they were given the bill and even the cheapest food they ordered cost RM11.50, which had a plate of rice with a small handful of sautéed mustard greens and a catfish.

Meanwhile, the plate that caught everybody’s interest is the one that cost RM23, which had rice, salted egg, a slice of fish, and sautéed mustard greens.

It is just like the video’s caption, “Daylight robbery!”

In the comment section, Malaysian netizens criticised the restaurant its attempt to profiteering.

One netizen even pointed out the siakap issue from last year, “After going viral, the owner will go on TV and say, ‘I’ve warned that the fish is expensive, they still want to eat it.”

Some said the restaurant is charging as if they are a 5-star restaurant, while another said, “I thought it’s in Paris, apparently it’s just Malim.”
