Apparently, McDonald’s is not the only fast-food chain that was impacted by the potato shortage across the globe.
KFC Malaysia has confirmed that some of its “main menu items” are currently out of stock, including French fries and, in some locations, its signature fried chicken as well.
According to a social media post on Twitter, netizen @syafiqkuni said, “Three times I went to KFC, three times they changed the fries to wedges. Potatoes changed to potatoes.”
Know how McD has to cut down their fries sales due to low supply?

Wait til you hear how KFC has now stopped selling their fries altogether because of the same problem https://t.co/Q3Eiglw2HB
Another netizen in the same Twitter thread said KFC has not only hit by a potato shortage, but chicken too!
Others shared that their local KFC outlets have run out of items such as chicken popcorn, nuggets, burgers, and coleslaw too.
My place has shortages of nuggets, burgers and has not been serving coleslaw for months due to "logistics issues"

According to Malay Mail, KFC Malaysia said the shortage was due to disruptions in the global supply chain caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As a result of our suppliers’ operations being heavily and unexpectedly disrupted, this has consequently impacted our operations resulting in a number of our main menu items currently being out of stock,” said Stephen Chew, brand head of KFC Malaysia.
“We are looking at alternative solutions to minimise the disruptions, and we hope our customers can bear with us during this time. We do not want to disappoint our customers, but the situation is unfortunately unprecedented and impacts many industries.”

Stephen also express his gratitude to customers for their “patience and understanding” and said they will keep them posted with future updates on the situation through KFC Malaysia’s Facebook page.
On Monday (25 January), McDonald’s Malaysia announced its “fry-tening supply crunch” situation where large-fries and set meals will be taken off their menu with effect from the day itself.
Meanwhile, both McDonald’s or KFC Malaysia did not said when these food items will return to their menu.
