It is now mandatory for employers to advertise job vacancies on the MYFutureJobs portal to ensure that the opportunities are offered to locals first before being filled by foreigners, according to the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM).
Its minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said employers need to advertise openings for at least 30 days on the MYFutureJobs portal which is under his ministry, reported Berita Harian.
He also admitted that there is a shortage of manpower in the employment sectors, especially those related to 3D (dirty, dangerous, and difficult), and vacancies in the sector are often filled by foreign workers due to no local workers being interested.
“The government is aware of the constraints faced by employers especially in the 3D employment sector.”
“And such, the Cabinet has agreed to allow the recruitment of foreign workers in all permitted sectors on 10 December 2021,” he said.
Saravanan added that sectors allowed to employ foreign workers are agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction and domestic service.
However, he also urged and encouraged that the vacancies be filled by local workers first.
The MYFutureJobs is a platform for KSM to monitor job matching involving locals as well as to ensure that Malaysians are given priority in employment opportunities.
It also serves as a one stop centre for all job seekers who needs help in employment service assistance.
