When there’s an accident involving lorry drivers, most would have a stereotype that the driver is either drunk or high on drugs. However, there are incidents where these stereotypes could have cost someone’s life.
The Galeri Lori Bas Facebook page had recently shared a video taken by a woman who accused a lorry driver of drunk driving after he collided with 3 cars parked by the side of the road in Sungai Buloh, Selangor.
However, it was later known that the lorry driver was actually suffering from chest pains when he crashes into the other vehicles.
In the video, the woman can be heard asking the driver if he is drunk and the driver gave her an incoherent answer. The woman then ignored him and continue on, asking with sarcasm “Are you drunk? Could you not see what you were doing?”
The woman can be heard telling others around her that the driver is drunk.
The caption wrote “Don’t simply accuse, sister. Saying people are drunk la, high on drugs la. Investigate first, don’t take stabs in the dark. It’s not good to slander people recklessly.”
Following the incident, Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Shafa’aton Abu Bakar has released a statement confirming that the driver was, in fact, not drunk.
He explain that the investigations found that the driver was having chest pains when the accident happened and unfortunately, he later passed away at the Sungai Buloh Hospital due to a heart attack.
Meanwhile, the police advised the public to avoid speculating in respect to the family of the deceased.
Hence, it is best to not to quick to judge others until the facts have been presented.
