Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has officially launched the new Rapid KL My50 unlimited travel pass. The travel pass costs RM50 a month and it will replace the current My30 travel pass starting 1 January 2022.

This means that frequent public transport users will now have to pay RM20 extra for their unlimited monthly pass starting next month.

Similarly, the My50 pass provides unlimited rides on all services operated by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad which include LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT, Rapid KL bus, and MRT feeder bus within the Klang Valley for 30 consecutive days.

During the launch event, Dr Wee Ka Siong said the My50 pass was only made possible with the RM115 million allocation under the National Recovery Plan which reduces the normal fare of RM200 to RM50 per month.

In addition, he said the pass “proves the ruling coalition cares about public welfare, especially in these trying times in line with the aspirations of Keluarga Malaysia.”

“With the introduction of the My50 pass alongside the positive progress of the National Recovery Plan the government and Prasarana are confident that ridership of the public transport system operated by Prasarana will increase,” he said.

Meanwhile, the My50 pass will be called Mutiara Pass in Penang and it will be applicable for all Rapid bus services in the state.

It is important to note that the My50 unlimited travel pass is only offered to Malaysian citizens with a valid MyKad or MyTentera ID. The unlimited pass will be tied to your MyKad or MyTentera.

It will be available for purchase at all LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT stations as well as selected Rapid KL bus hubs.

Nonetheless, the My30 travel pass is set to expire on 31 December 2021, but Dr Wee said those who bought the travel pass and the Mutiara Pass on that day could continue to enjoy the facility until 30 January 2022 before having to switch to the My50 pass.
