It’s been 2 weeks since the devastating floods hit Malaysia and the people are now focusing on cleaning and repairing their homes or premises.
While Malaysians are suffering from flash floods due to a poor drainage system in the city, some irresponsible people just do not learn from it and are still throwing rubbish at their own convenience.
Recently, netizen Royce had taken to his Facebook to share a video showing 2 unknown cleaners ‘cleaning’ up the rubbish after the floods by throwing them back to the river.
He captioned “Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, why is all rubbish being thrown back to the river?”
“The fastest way to clean up after a flood is to throw the garbage back to the river. I don’t know the logic of DBKL,” he added.
The video went viral on social media and has garnered over 4,100 likes and 7,300 shares at the time of writing.
Many netizens in the comment section criticised the authorities for not being able to handle the flash floods effectively, and what more for post-flood activities.
“The Malaysian Way ‘Sweep under the carpet’.” a netizen said.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had been called on to look into the matter, but the authority has yet to respond to the matter.
Previously, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage was reported to have said that one of the causes behind the floods is littering, which causes clogging in drains and rivers.
