The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that one of their officers has been detained by the police to assist in an investigation of a gang robbery case that happened on last Friday (10 December) in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement yesterday (12 December), the MACC said it will give full cooperation to the police to track down the officer involved.

MACC added that the officer was handed over to the enforcement agency on Saturday (11 December) afternoon.


MACC also stressed that it will not compromise or protect any officer involved in any criminal conduct.

“Strict action including charges in court and disciplinary action with dismissal will be imposed if he was involved.” the commission said.

Previously, Harian Metro reported that wo individuals, including an enforcement agency officer, were arrested by the police after they were suspected of being involved in a gang robbery at a house in Jalan Ampang here, involving a loss of almost RM1 million.

The incident was reported to have taken place at 12 p.m. on Friday (10 December), where the 3 men introduced themselves as enforcement officers of an enforcement agency before broking into the house of a businessman in his 50s.

According to their sources, the suspect claimed that he was conducting an investigation on the victim and they had searched the entire house and asked the victim to hand out a bag containing cash.

“The victim followed the suspect’s instructions before they fled the bag in a vehicle.”

“After the incident, the victim came forward to lodge a police report for further action.” sources said.

Following which, the police have launched an investigation and they managed to detain the 2 men and the enforcement officer, whom are in their 30s.

It is believed that there are more involved and the police are currently tracking down all the suspects.
