Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan is believed to be “arrested” by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday (11 December) morning while he was driving.
The PBK candidate for Batu Lintang had shared 2 videos on Facebook at about 8.a.m and he claimed he was stopped by the enforcement officers while he was driving alone in his car, with his keys taken away by at least 4 personnel surrounding his car.
“I think I’m in danger. My life is under threat. I don’t know whether these people are robbers or what.”
“They didn’t show any identification. I was shocked, I don’t feel safe now.” he said, adding that the MACC should have called him on his phone instead of stopping his car like that.
In the next video, Voon said “I am under arrest by MACC. I am alone. They took my car key.”
He also revealed that he is in Kenyalang Park area when he was stopped. One of the officers can be heard informing Voon that they are just carrying out their duty to serve him a notice to be present for questioning by the MACC.
“So we’re serving you this notice. You need to come with us to the MACC office.” said the officer, urging Voon to cooperate.
Meanwhile, Malay Mail reported that the PBK election director Raymond Thong confirmed that Voon is at the MACC headquarters for questioning since 8.40 a.m.
He said that the actions taken by MACC were unjustified as the letter to appear at the MACC Headquarters for questioning should have been delivered to Voon personally, instead of tailing him and stopping him at the side of the road.
“This is a clear act of intimidation.” Thong said.
He also said that no reason was given as to why Voon was called in for questioning.
“Doing this six days from polling day might be a way to demoralise and reduce our campaign strength in the coming days.” he said.
Thong then called out for justice to be served as something unfair is going on to derail the party’s campaigning activities.
