A security guard has been called up by the police for his statement to be recorded after a video of a senior citizen being drag out and left on the side of the road went viral on social media.
According to The Star, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the video which was circulated on the social media on Friday (3 December), actually occurred two months ago on 15 October.
It was also reported that the senior had died from a heat stroke after he was being dragged out and left on the side of a road in Ara Damansara.
“Statements were taken, including from the security guards there, and the scene was investigated by the forensics department.”
“The preliminary report from the postmortem showed no signs of injuries, internal or external, that could cause death.” he said.
Fakhrudin added that the police are still waiting for the full postmortem report and toxicology report before conducting further investigation.
“The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report and should the pending reports state signs of criminal elements of negligence that could cause death, the police will take stern action against all involved.” he said.
In the video, it can be seen that two security guards dragging the man on the floor and left the senior citizen by the side of the road before leaving.
Fakhrudin said that the police will be investigating if the victim was still alive at the time.
“Their statements were taken and we are still investigating the matter. It is known that their intention was to move the body and that another member of the public made the call to the police regarding the incident.” he said.
