Man Snatches Woman’s Handbag After A Car Accident In Federal Highway

A man was being arrested by the police for snatching a handbag from a woman’s vehicle after a car accident that happened at 14.6 kilometer of Federal Highway from Klang to Kuala Lumpur.

Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the suspect was arrested after they receive a report regarding the accident at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters, at about 6.30 p.m. yesterday (27 November).

“The investigations found that the accident that went viral on social media happened at 1.33 p.m. and it involved 3 vehicles.”

“The accident happened as the woman who was driving the BMW crashes into the Proton Gen 2 car, which the driver is the suspect.”

“The impact of the collision caused the suspect’s car to collide with another Honda HRV in front of him, which is driven by another woman.”

“However, no injuries were reported and the case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59.” he said, as reported by Harian Metro.

Meanwhile, Baharudin said the police has also opened an investigation paper on the suspect’s actions according to Section 379/323 of the Penal Code.

“Witnesses or members of the public with information on the accident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Assistant Investigating Officer of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) IPD Shah Alam, Sergeant Hafizi Hashim (013-9557042)” he said.

In the 1-minute video that went viral on social media, the man can be seen asking for the identification card of the woman who crash into his car.

The man then snatched her handbag through the window of her vehicle and demanded her to follow him to the police station.

The incident is believed to have taken place near Shell and Petron petrol stations on the Federal Highway before the exit to Section 13 as well as the Guthrie Highway.
