Malaysians have notice the importance of food delivery and e-hailing services, especially so since the movement restrictions due to Covid-19 were imposed.
Over the past year, there had been many stories of delivery riders and drivers that went viral on social media for they had went all their way to accomplish their tasks and even take an extra mile for their customers.
In an effort to honour such heroic deeds, Grab has recently launched its very first Grab Lejen campaign, where Grab officially recognises the efforts of their “partners” in performing acts of kindness and heroism.
Throughout the next month, the Grab Legen campaign will commemorate their deeds in the form of comics and a short film.
The campaign starts with the brand film titled “Grab Lejen Lahir Dari Kesungguhan” (Grab Legends Born Brom Sincerity) and will be followed by a series of comics created by Malaysian artist Ujang.
The comics will showcase riders and drivers and their heroic stories. For example, Mohamad Khairul bin Ghani who had rescued a family trapped underneath a car in a monsoon drain and Sateesh A/L Karuppusamy who drove 200 kilometers just to return a lost wallet to a customer.
“Our partners have shown us that despite the trying year we have all gone through, there is nothing we cannot overcome as a nation if we show each other a little kindness.” said Grab Malaysia’s Director of Country Operations Rashid Shukor in a statement.
“With this annual initiative we hope to continue honoring them for their incredible acts of service and kindness while serving fellow Malaysians.”
“In addition, we are also looking to further expand the support Grab is providing them for their various needs.”
Apart from these tributes in the form of comics and film, Grab will be giving their partners a surprise to make their holiday season a little extra special. The gifts include petrol rebates, healthcare coverage, discounts on car parts and smartphones, and many more.
“As a homegrown tech enabler, we want to ensure that other than providing Malaysians with easy access to income, we also put in place efforts and initiatives that safeguard their welfare – from on-the- road savings and protection via insurance to quality living and financial resilience.” Rashid Shukor said.
“With the launch of Grab Lejen and enhancing our GrabBenefits platform, we hope to give back to our community both by meeting their needs and honouring them.”
