A 7 year-old student was killed after she was being run over by a school van while walking in front of the vehicle to enter a transit house on Friday (12 November).
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place in Taman Dahlia, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi at around 12.10 p.m. but the police only receive a report on the incident at 1.10 p.m.
Sepang District Deputy OCPD Supt Md Noor Aehwan Mohammad said the initial investigation found that the woman of the school van had dropped off the students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Seroja Sepang to a kindergarten which was used as a transit house for the students before going to the Fardu Ain (Kafa) Class.
“After which, the woman driver moved forward without realising that the victim was walking in front of the van.” he said.
He added that the victim was the last to get off the van.
“The victim who suffered severe head injuries, was rushed to the Nilai Medical Center, Negri Sembilan but died while receiving treatment.”
“The victim’s body was sent to Putrajaya Hospital for a post mortem.”
Md Noor Aehwan said a statement from the driver was recorded and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
The video of the accident had went viral on social media, where it showed a school van running into a student who was walking in front of the van for transit at a kindergarten.
The CCTV footage was take from a resident in the area and then shared on social media.
