A body of a newborn was found dumped in a rubbish bin at a flat in Taman Bagan, Penang yesterday (23 October) morning.
The newborn was found when the area’s Rukun Tetangga (KRT) chairman and 2 workers were carrying out cleaning works in the area.
The workers found the newborn wrapped in cloth inside one of the bins.
According to Malaysia Gazette, the police received a report from a resident in the flat at 9.35 a.m and have immediately went to the site to recover the remains.
An ambulance from Seberang Jaya Hospital also come and took away the body for a post mortem.
North Seberang Prai OCPD, Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor had confirmed that they had receive a report regarding the incident and that the investigation is ongoing.
“Police personnel are looking for more information with the help of surrounding residents on people who have recently been pregnant or in confinement after childbirth.” he said.
Meanwhile, The Vibes reported that Bagan Dalam assemblyman M. Satees was informed about the finding and he had alerted police.
“I am saddened by the incident. Even if it was unwantedly conceived, this should not have happened.”
“Residents who have information about the incident can call police to assist in their investigations.” he said.
