A 6 year-old girl is believed to have died after falling from the 9th floor at hotel in Tanjung Bungah, Penang yesterday morning (18 October).
According to Astro Awani, the incident occurred at about 11.30 a.m. and the victim was confirmed dead at the scene.
It was understood that the family is from Sungai Petani, Kedah and they have been staying at the hotel since 17 October. They are supposed to have checked out of the hotel on the next day (18 October) after the short holiday.
It was also reported that prior to the incident, the child had just finish her shower after playing in the swimming pool on the ground floor of the hotel with her family members.
After the shower, the family decide to head back to the hotel room to pack their luggage.
However, the youngest of the 4 siblings have rushed into the elevator alone before elevator door closed. The other family members did not have time to chase up to the child.
The family then searched for the child for about 10 minutes before discovering the child’s body on the second floor of the hotel.
Meanwhile, NST reported their sources claim that there was a chair near the window in one of the rooms on the ninth floor which they believe the victim could have fallen from. The door was not locked as it had just been cleaned.
They added that there is a possibility that the child’s float could have fallen out of the window and she was trying to retrieve it.
The victim’s body was then sent to Penang Hospital for an autopsy. The police are still conducting the investigation as of now.
