On Friday, 15 teenagers in Kelantan were caught by the authorities for hiking up the Bukit Panau trail without being fully vaccinated.
According to Harian Metro, Tanah Merah District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Zainuddin Md Yusuf said the police found the teenagers between ages of 14 to 18 year-old while inspecting the hill trail from top to bottom at around 7.30 a.m.
The teenagers were reported to have failed to show proof that they had been fully vaccinated.
Following which, the police had issued compounds of RM2,000 to each of the 15 teenagers.
“Another 15 visitors were issued warning for being ignorant about the SOP and not practising social distancing. If they repeat it, we will issue compounds” he said.
Meanwhile, Zainuddin said 10 police officers, 2 district health officer and a RELA member has been stationed at the hill to monitor the situation there.
He said that action was taken according to Regulation 16 of the Prevention and Control Of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
“The Health Ministry have made announcements related to standard operating procedures (SOP) that need to be followed, including giving advice to visitors regarding imprisonment and the wearing of face masks.”
“We will conduct such operations on a regular basis and visitors are advised to continue to comply with the SOP and to be fully vaccinated before going out for recreational activities.” he said.
