Khairy: We’ll Make Life Difficult For The Anti-Vaxxers

NewsKhairy: We'll Make Life Difficult For The Anti-Vaxxers

The Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the Health Ministry is committed to encourage more Malaysians to register themselves for the Covid-19 vaccine.

At the same time, he said that the Ministry will make life difficult for the anti-vaxxers throughout the nation if they continue to refuse to be vaccinated.

He said this in a press conference during the launch of the 11th National Acute Myocardial Infarction Course (NAMIC) 2021 in Petaling Jaya yesterday (16 October), according to Utusan.

Khairy also said that although the Covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory in Malaysia, the government will not be lenient towards the anti-vaxxers as it is their choice to remain unvaccinated.

“We may not implement a Federal law that is mandatory at the national level but I encourage it is a sectoral law.”

“It may sound a little harsh but our approach is also to ‘make life difficult’ for those who choose not to receive the vaccine.”

“This is because you yourself choose not to receive the vaccine unless you cannot receive the vaccine due to health factors and are also excluded in the MySejahtera system but if otherwise, then we will make your life difficult.” he said.

Meanwhile, Khairy also said that the Ministry may require those who refused or delayed their vaccination to undergo Covid-19 self test on a weekly basis and the government will not bear the expenses.

Currently, those who are not vaccinated cannot dine-in at restaurants and cannot enter malls. However, Khairy said the Ministry may impose more restrictions in the future.

Khairy also said that his Ministry does not only focus on the education sector but also the public sector as a whole.

“The Director General of Public Service has issued a circular that it will be compulsory for civil servants to be vaccinated by November. We also encourage the private sectors to practice this.” he said.
