Following the data leak incident from JPN yesterday (28 September), Malaysians were panicking on how it would have impacted them, or the possibility of causing them any kind of losses.
Just as we thought that the authorities are investigating into the matter, a new data list have appeared on the same forum and this time, it was reported to have involved the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
The data set is said to contain company profiles, the particulars of its directors, and shareholders, particulars of the company secretary and more.
Meanwhile, the data is said to contain the profiles of approximately 1.4 million Malaysian companies too.
“A single company report worth 18USD at ctoscredit.com.my.” wrote the seller in the forum.
The database is listed with a price tag of 0.3 bitcoins, which is about RM52,000 for individual buyers.
Meanwhile, the seller also offered the database to be taken down or stop selling at a price tag of 1 bitcoin, which is about RM174,400 if the authorities were to approach him.

On the other hand, Malaysians who entrusted our data to the authorities were panicking as the cybersecurity of our systems were not that strong in preventing these events.
