The police has opened an investigation on a local businesswoman-cum-online personality who recently uploaded photos of her trip to Janda Baik, Pahang on social media.
According to Berita Harian, Bentong Police Chief, Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the investigation was launch after they received a police report on the businesswoman’s Instagram posts.
Her Instagram posts had went viral on social media and were being shared by netizens multiple times.
Meanwhile, the police also refuted her claims which said that a travel permit is not required for people to enter Janda Baik from Selangor.

He added that the woman may be issued a compound of up to RM5,000 and the investigation is now being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Bentong police headquarters according to Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulation 2021.
“The police denies the woman’s confusing statement, that an interstate travel permit is not needed for travels from Selangor to Janda Baik.” he stressed.
Zaiham also welcome the public to contact the Bentong police headquarters if they have any information regarding the standard operating procedure (SOP) violations within the district.

Previously on 13 September, the woman had uploaded a series of photos of her and her family riding all-terrain vehicles (ATV) at a campsite on Instagram.
Her caption read “Alhamdulillah, when we heard that the government declared that all leisure activities can now take off their ‘masks’, we became the first to officiate @rimbavalley.jandabaik with the children in Janda Baik yesterday.”
“Only 30 minutes from our home, this is good news for kids who have been trapped at home for too long. We’re not the only ones happy to get to go into the forest, people in the forest were also happy to see us.”
She also emphasised that a travel letter is not required to travel to Janda Baik as the Gombak Toll Plaza is located within the Selangor border.
“No need for a letter because the Gombak Toll Plaza is still within the Selangor border. Those who want to cross states still need a letter. What’s important is, no matter where we go, we still have to maintain a physical distance and complete two doses of the vaccine, okay?” she said.

However, netizens were upset about this as most had been waiting patiently to cross state borders so they could reunite with loved ones.
“My wife is from Janda Baik. But since January 2021, we couldn’t go back there. My question is, can we really travel interstate? If we can, I really want to go back to my hometown to meet my in-laws. I swear to Allah that I really want to see them.” a netizen wrote.
Nonetheless, the police has clarified that this is not true and stressed that a travel letter must be obtained to cross state borders as of now.
