A man was found drowned while his friend who is also a lorry driver survived after the vehicle they were traveling in slipped into a ditch in an incident in Ijok, Kuala Selangor, at about 8.30p.m. last night.
The victim was identified as Kamarul Najmi Abdullah, 24, from Taman Sri Putra, Banting.
According to Kuala Selangor District Police Chief Ramli Kasa, the driver of the Nissan UD lorry carrying the chicken, Saihol Ihsan Rapsidi, 36, did not suffer any injuries as he managed to escape in the incident.
“Based on the initial investigation, the lorry skidded before plunging into the ditch on the left side of the road.
“The lorry driver managed to escape, while his driver is believed to have been trapped and drowned,” he said in a statement, according to a Berita Harian report.
He said the victim’s body was successfully removed by a team from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) at about 11.45pm.
“The body was then taken to the Tanjung Karang Hospital Forensic Department (HTK) for autopsy and the case was investigated in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
