On Friday (17 September), a teacher of a secondary school in Tapah was charged in the Sessions Court with 32 counts of doing sexual acts as well as sexual grooming of his 7 male students.
The accused, Mohd Faizal Amir, 32, has pleaded not guilty after the charges against him were read out by an interpreter before Judge Intan Nurul Farena Zainal Abidin.
According to Utusan, the suspect was charged with 10 counts of performing unnatural sex and 22 counts of committing physical sexual assault on the students aged 14 to 16 at the school warden’s house of a secondary school warden in Tapah between 28 July and 28 September 2020.

For the unnatural sex offences, he was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code and if convicted, the punishment will be a minimum jail term of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years as well as whipping.
Meanwhile, the accused was also charged with 22 counts of sexual grooming offences under Section 14 (a) and Section 14 (d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 read together with Section 16 of the same act.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Cheah Shuh Yuan while the accused was represented by lawyer Muhammad Farid Wajdi Hanif.
During the proceedings, Shuh Yuan did not offer any bail to the accused. However, Muhammad Farid applied for the bail of RM3,000 to be imposed on his client for each case.
Judge Intan Nurul Farena then allowed the accused to be bailed at RM5,000 with one surety for every 11 cases, making the total bail of RM55,000, as well as the additional condition that he refrain from harassing the victims and report to the nearest police station once a month.
The court also fixed the case to be re-mention on 15 November for submission of documents.
