Yesterday (17 September), an employee of a recycling company had discovered a trash bag which contains an infant’s corpse after he curiously opened the trash bag as the foul smell was unbearable for him.
According to Harian Metro, the incident happened when the employee was collecting the recyclables at a recycle bin at Jalan Persiaran Seri Putra 2, Bandar Seri Putra, Kajang.
Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the police received a report regarding the incident after the members of public found the infant’s corpse at 4.41 p.m.
“The preliminary investigations found that the witness who found the infant’s corpse was an employee of a recycling company who came to collect recycled items.”
“The employee found a suspicious trash bag that gives out a foul smell before he proceed to open the trash bag and found the infant’s corpse wrapped in cloth.” he said in a statement yesterday (17 September).
Meanwhile, Mohd Zaid said the infant weigh around 2 to 3 kilograms and it is believed that the infant died within 36 hours.
“However, the gender and race of the infant remained undetermined as it is wrapped in thick cloth and tons of plastic bags.”
“The infant’s corpse was sent to the Kajang Hospital Forensic Medicine Department for an autopsy.” he said.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body.
