During the Parliament session yesterday (14 September), it was revealed that the Bersatu Deputy President, Ahmad Faizal Azumu was being paid a full month’s salary of RM27,227.20 plus a pro-rated amount for the 11 days when he was appointed as the special adviser to former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob then replied that Faizal’s salary is pro-rated due to his brief stint as the special adviser, while the one month’s salary was part of his termination of service notice and it is not eligible for pension payments in that role.
The question was posed by Kepong Member of Parliament (MP), Lim Lip Eng, who asked Ismail to reveal Faizal’s remuneration when he was the former minister-level adviser.
Lim also asked about Faizal’s exact role under the Muhyiddin’s administration.
Ismail then replied that Faizal was advising the prime minister on matters related to community communication.
“He was responsible in establishing close cooperation between the government and community leaders as well as increasing the people’s understanding of government policies through effective communication channels, and improving the government’s delivery system in terms of socio-economic development.”
Previously, Faizal was appointed by Muhyiddin on 5 August.
In the statement, Muhyiddin said the post came with a ministerial rank and his role will be “advising the prime minister on all matters related to community welfare, communications, and socio-economic affairs”.
However, Faizal lost the position when Muhyiddin resigned as Prime Minister on 16 August.
Meanwhile, netizens were amused by the payroll of being a adviser to the Prime Minister, at the same time, expressed their disappointment and said the tax money they paid were being spend unnecessarily.
