Malaysia is a multi-racial country and even after 6 decades since our independence, the people are still struggling with maintaining the delicate peace among the different races and religions.

Recently, a netizen, called arivinraj_turu on TikTok had called out to the insensitive commenter who made ignorant remarks in the comment section of his TikTok video.

According to the netizen, a comment made on one of his videos said “Hi Turu, let’s learn to recite the Al-Fatihah.”, which he finds it offensive as most of his contents were related to bantering about football, but this comment is something that is totally out of the context.

Referring to the incident, the netizen said “Please respect other religions and beliefs.” as he calls these commenter ignorant.

The netizen then uploaded another video on TikTok and shared his view on this matter.

“From this comment, I think you already know that I’m not Muslim, I’m Hindu. But you choose not to respect my religion.” he said in retort, adding that if here were to do this to a Muslim, it would have made for even bigger news.

Meanwhile, he reminded his viewers to avoid making such insensitive statements on social media and said that there was a time and a place for such actions.

“It’s not wrong to preach, but there are proper ways to do it. This isn’t preaching, this is stupid.” he said.

Nonetheless, the netizen managed to earn the support from netizens, as they band together to criticize the actions of the insensitive commenter that had invited him to recite the Quran.

There were also a growing concern of cyberbullying as this case is just one of the examples of cyberbullying, where people had intimidated and harass people of different race and belief.

Netizens also revealed that the racist, bigoted, and prejudiced problem is worse than most people would care to accept and extends well beyond cyberspace.
