The police are now tracking down 3 men who were involved in a robbery of a jewellery shop in Simpang Tiga, Batu 6, Gombak yesterday (9 September).
According to Kosmo, Gombak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Zainal Mohamed Mohamed said the police received a report of the incident from the public who witnessed the scene at about 6.15 p.m.
“Preliminary investigation found that when the shop owner, a 46 year-old woman, was at the premises with her mother, son and sister-in-law, before the three men stormed into the premise.”
“Two suspects jumped into the display rack area before they started taking various types of jewellery, while another suspect waited at the main entrance while holding a machete.” he said.
Zainal also said that one of the suspects also punched the victim in the face which cause the victim to be in pain, before they ran away with the jewellery which is estimated to be worth around RM200,000.”
“The three suspects wore black, red and blue helmets respectively and had fled with two Yamaha Y15 motorcycles. The police are still tracking down all the suspects.”
“The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for committing gang and armed robbery which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.” he said.
Meanwhile, Zainal Mohamed urge those with information on the incident to come forward to assist the police by providing information to any nearby police station or contact the Investigating Officer, Assistant Superintendent Agila Iswaran at 03-6126 2222 / 019-523 0801.
Yesterday, the CCTV footage of the incident had went viral on social media, showing 3 men in helmets storming into a jewellery shop, and one of them was armed with a machete.
