Yesterday (7 September), a massive fight broke out at the parking lot of the Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (UniSHAMS) vaccination centre (PPV) in Baling, Kedah.
According to Sinar Harian, Kedah Police Chief, Datuk Kamarulzaman Mamat said the 2 suspects who were involved in the fight were believed to be stepbrothers, aged 19 and 27 respectively.
He added that the incident happened around 11.45 a.m., where the stepbrothers arrived at the PPV and sparked chaos by driving recklessly and performing car drifting in the parking lot.
“The fight started after the suspect was not satisfied after being scolded.”
“The fight also involves the public where one of the suspects who were holding a golf club made criminal threats against a man who were trying to resolve the fight.” he said.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro reported that the suspects had disrupted other people who were waiting to get vaccinated.
The police then rushed to the scene and they managed to arrest one of the suspects.
Kamarulzaman said the 19 year-old suspect was arrested around 12.30pm at the parking lot of the PPV.
“After questioning the suspect, police also found and confiscated a golf club at 2.30pm. Police then arrested another 27-year-old suspect at home in Ladang Kupang to assist investigations.” Kamarulzaman said.
In addition, the police had confiscated a Proton Saga which is believed to have been driven by the suspect during the incident.
Kamarulzaman added that the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 and Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
