Personal and financial woes had forced this couple to carry along their 6-month-old baby on a grueling 200km trip on a motorcycle.
The couple was then found by Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) after members of public reported about the family requesting for donations from the public at a petrol station.
LZS also revealed that the couple was from Kuala Kurau, Perak had does not have a shelter above their heads.
The Saidina Umar Squad (SSU) Zakat Selangor acted immediately to the calls and had provided assistance to the couple to help them walk out from their difficult times.
“The young couple was living a very burdensome life after being jobless since the second Movement Control Order.”
“They also took their son with them all the way to Selangor.” a spokesperson said.
According to LZS, the the couple planned to stay at a family home in Selangor but weren’t able do so due to internal problems.
LZS added that their further investigation found that the couple had received financial aid from LZS before it but was terminated when they moved to Perak last year.
Even so, they had been receiving assistance from mosques, villages, and the Perak Islamic Religious Council after having moved there.
LZS explained that the family is currently being placed in a budget hotel and have received RM500 in emergency assistance from LZS.
