Yesterday (4 September), a woman who is being known as “Sittah Annur” and the leader of the cult, Perjalanan Mimpi Yang Terakhir (PMYT) was being arrested by the police.
According to Malaysia Gazette, the 39 year-old woman was detained by the police at her home in Shah Alam and she was being remanded for 4 days to assist with the investigation.
Brickfields District Deputy Chief of Police, Superintendent Basri Sagoni has confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was a married businesswoman. Basri added that the case is being investigated under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony, disunity or enmity and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for improper use of a network facility.
“At 1.10 a.m. this morning, a D9 Inspector along with a team from the D9 branch of IPD Breakfields, KL were being dispatched to Jalan Tanjung Keramat 26/35 HICOM Industrial Estate, Shah Alam, Selangor to arrest the suspect to assist in the investigation of the case.” he said.
“The suspect has no previous criminal record and she will be remanded for 4 days until 7 September following the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate Court’s approval to detain her under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist with the police investigations.” he said.
Meanwhile, Basri said that before the police made the arrest, the suspect had lodged a police report, denying that she had created a cult that spreads deviant teachings that were in contrary to the Islamic teachings, and had denied all allegations, including actions that could threaten national security.
“During the raid, the police had confiscated 5 mobile phones, a bank card, a bank transfer receipt amounting to RM84,721,42 and a pair of white telekung believed to have been used by the suspect while making a live Facebook.” he said.
On the other hand, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director, Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the investigation found that the suspect had been involved in spreading several video recordings containing statements touching on the Aqeedah and teachings of Islam.
He added that the videos were being uploaded on PMYT’s YouTube channel, Cahaya Islam’s Youtube channel, as well as on various other social media.
“Among the contents of the viral video were the woman’s claims that she can communicate directly with Allah SWT, the Angels and the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
“She also claimed that the dream of the last journey was revealed to her as a guide for other people and anyone who hurts or prevents her from delivering the teachings can be taken away by Allah SWT.” Abd Jalil Hassan said.
Nonetheless, he said that evidence had been collected as the investigations continues.
He also said the police is tracking down and identifying the other individuals involved in spreading the deviant teachings.
