The police had detained 13 individuals, including a civil servant and a teenage girl following a raid conducted at 4 a.m. at an apartment in Medini, Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
According to Malaysia Gazette, Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the police had arrested 10 men and 3 women aged between 17 and 27.
“Preliminary investigation found that the organisers invited the suspects to the party through WhatsApp and they were not charged any fee.” he said.
He added that the party started last Saturday (28 August) at 9 p.m. and was expected to only end early yesterday (29 August) morning.
Meanwhile, the police had confiscated a set of speakers and laser lights, while the urine tests found 9 male and 2 female suspects were positive for drugs.
However, there were no drugs being found in the apartment.
He also said the further investigations confirmed that 2 of the suspects had previous drug-related charges.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and related provisions for violating SOPs (standard operating procedures) in the national recovery plan, he said.
Section 15(1)(a) relates to the consumption or administration of drugs under the relevant Act and is punishable by a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of not more than two years.
