Yesterday (28 August), a motorcyclist died after being dragged by a lorry 50 meters in an accident at Batu 3 Jalan Meru, Selangor.
According to Utusan, the deadly accident happened at 1.08 p.m. when the 24 year-old victim was heading to the city from Meru.
North Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh said the victim who was riding a Modenas Kriss motorcycle was believed to have wanted to overtake a Proton X50.
“However, the motorcycle is said to hit against the rear right side of the Proton X50, and then fell to the ground.”
“The accident caused the victim to be hit by a lorry and dragged for 50 meters.” she said.
According to Nurulhuda, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene due to sustaining severe injuries.
“The man’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for an autopsy.”
“Two men, the driver of the Proton X50 and the lorry, aged 34 and 25, however, were not injured.” she said.
She added that during the incident, the weather there was good and it was not raining.
“The case is classified according to Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”
“Further investigation will be carried out by the Traffic Investigating Officer of the North Klang District Police Headquarters (IPD), Inspector Mohd. Fadli Ismail.” she said.
