Last December, 2 videos showing a security guard being assaulted while on duty at the swimming pool of a condominium had went viral on social media. The victim of the incident had died yesterday (28 August) due to a lung infection, which is 8 months after the assault.
The 2 video that went viral showed a man accompanied by his son assaulting a security guard with a table until he fainted.
According to Bernama, Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mior Faridalthrash Wahid said the incident happened on 29 December 2020 and the police had opened an investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
“The suspect had also been remanded and the investigation found that the incident happened after the suspect was upset with the victim who was working as a security guard for not allowing the suspect’s son to use the swimming pool which was not open to the public at that time.”
“He was charged in the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court on 6 January under Section 335 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and is scheduled to be mentioned again on 9 September for sentencing.” he said.
Unfortunately, the victim died yesterday (28 August) at his home and the post-mortem showed that the cause of his death is a lung infection (sepsis).
However, the family of the victim were dissatisfied with the findings and said that his death was a result of the assault in December. They also reposted recordings and photos of the incident on social media.
Responding to the case, Mior said that the police will refer to the investigation paper on the case based on this new evidence. They will also submit the paper to the Perak deputy public prosecutor’s office for further instructions.
Meanwhile, he urge the public to not to speculate on the case as it was still in court proceedings.
On the other hand, netizens demand justice for the victim, and said that how is it possible that the man who assaulted was charged only for causing grievous hurt as the victim had already fainted and was lying on the floor because of his actions.
There were those who demanded the police to investigate the case as a case of murder!
