“KJ has resigned” PPV staff stops man from recording his vaccination process

On Wednesday (25 August), a Twitter user had uploaded a video of his vaccination process and claimed that a staff from the vaccination centre (PPV) had stopped him from recording his vaccination process.

According to SAYS, the netizen had gotten the permission to record the process from the nurse administering the jab but another staff suddenly interrupted and cover his camera.

The netizen in his tweet captioned “A staff covered my camera with “KJ has resigned” as the reason. Rude. I was just recording to show my family.”

The 8-second video went viral and has garnered over 270,000 views and 5,300 retweets at the time of writing.

Nonetheless, the PPV staff can be heard saying “Cannot record. KJ has resigned” in the video, while KJ refers to the former National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.

The staff added that the current procedures from the Ministry of Health (KKM) does not allow recordings.

The staff then proceed to cover the camera using her hand.

Meanwhile, the netizen said that the incident took place at the Dewan Jubli Intan PPV in Johor and it took place on the same day as the video was uploaded.

“I went there quite early because I didn’t want to be stuck in a crowd. Everything was fine at first. The nurse (administering the jab) treated me totally fine. She was soft-spoken and helpful. We were laughing and talking until this woman, who I’m not sure whether she’s an official or what not, suddenly came while I was recording. I didn’t even want to record at first until I asked the nurse for permission.” he said.

However, the netizen was unable to recall the staff’s name and face as it all happened too quick. He expressed that he was being put in a stressful situation too.

Last month, Khairy has announced that Malaysians are allowed to record themselves when receiving the vaccination.

“Go ahead, film yourselves and take a video of your vaccination so that you have hard proof and that we also have hard proof that you have received a proper dosage for your vaccination.” he said.

This move is to restore Malaysian’s confidence towards the national immunisation programme after several people claimed that they were given the “empty syringe” during the vaccination.

However, following the political turmoil that happened in Malaysia, Khairy, along with the other cabinet members have tendered their resignation to the Agong, thus stripping him of his title as the Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister, as well as CITF Coordinating Minister.
